AmpVerve Headroom · for electric van and light commercial fleets

Charge more electric vehicles on the connection you already have.

We cut your electric fleet’s charging costs, with vehicles ready for work. AmpVerve Headroom starts with a free review that shows how many more vehicles your depot can charge before it needs a grid upgrade, and what planned charging would save.

  • Freeheadroom review, with no commitment
  • 5 working daysfrom receiving your data
  • OCPPworks with your chargers, mixed brands included
  • No capital costno licence fee and no hardware to buy

Power, not vehicles, is now the brake on depot electrification.

A depot’s grid connection was sized for a building, not for a yard of vans plugging in at the end of a shift. A new connection can take years, and finance teams struggle to see a saving they can trust.

Hours

Vans are usually parked for far longer than they need to charge. Spreading charging across those hours can fit more vehicles on the same connection. The review tells you whether that holds for your depot, and where it does not.

How Headroom works

It starts with data you already hold, and nothing is controlled until you have seen the plans and agreed in writing.

  1. Send what you have

Your charge point session export, your half-hourly site load, your tariff and your vehicles’ usual departure times.
    Live
  2. Free review in five working days

Your headroom, the estimated saving, your connection options and where smart charging will not help.
    Live
  3. Shadow mode on your chargers

We compute every charging plan for your depot and show you what would have been sent, without controlling anything.
    Pilot programme
  4. Managed charging, proven monthly

Charging stays inside your site limit with every vehicle ready, and a monthly statement shows the saving against your agreed baseline.

What you get from the free review

  • Your headroom: how many vehicles your depot can charge on its current connection, unmanaged and with planned charging.
  • The estimated saving from planned charging, with the method shown: your own recent sessions re-planned against your own tariff.
  • Your site load against its connection limit, half hour by half hour, and the times the limit binds.
  • Your connection options: whether a timed or flexible connection offer from your network operator could help, and a site capacity summary you can use with your network operator or in a grant application.
  • Where smart charging will not help, said plainly.
  • A proposed baseline for measuring any saving, for you to agree before anything starts.
  • A 30-minute call with the AmpVerve team to walk through the results.

You pay only from what we save.

  • No capital costWe work with the chargers you already have.
  • No licence feeNo platform fee and no subscription.
  • No hardwareNothing to buy or install for the review.
  • Nothing if nothingIf we deliver nothing, you pay nothing.

AmpVerve is paid only from a share of the savings and grid income it creates, measured against a baseline you agree in writing before we start. The review itself is free and carries no commitment. Grid income is later upside, offered only once a market route is open for your site; it is never the reason to start.

Why AmpVerve

Four things a fleet buyer can check before signing anything.

Vehicles ready first

Every plan works back from each vehicle’s next departure. Readiness is a hard limit in the optimiser, not a preference traded against price. Where we have no state of charge for a vehicle, the readiness board says so instead of guessing.

Savings your finance team can recompute

Each monthly statement is calculated from recorded inputs against a baseline you agreed before we started, and it is signed. Anyone holding the inputs can recompute it, and a public verification page checks the signature.

Pilot programme: first statements follow the first pilot depots

Evidence for every instruction

From the plan to the instruction, the charger’s response and the meter reading, each step is recorded on a tamper-evident audit trail, so a saving or a grid event can be shown to your auditors, your network operator or a market operator.

Open standards, your hardware

Your chargers connect over OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1, so you keep your hardware, can mix brands and can leave without replacing anything. A public API with documentation and signed webhooks lets your own systems read the same data. AmpVerve’s IEEE 2030.5 server and client are in the V2G Forum AC interoperability testbed with PNNL, Emporia and Pacific Power, with a demonstration in Detroit on 27 to 29 October 2026: testing, not certification.

OCPP and public API: live

AmpVerve is independent: not owned by a charger maker, an energy supplier or a network operator, so you keep your chargers, your vehicles and your energy supplier.

Questions fleet managers ask

What data do you need?

Your charge point session export for the last three months, half-hourly site consumption (your energy supplier or meter operator can provide it), your current tariff and your vehicles’ usual departure times. If you do not have all of it, send what you have and we will tell you what the review can and cannot show.

Do we need new chargers or other hardware?

No. AmpVerve works with chargers that support OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1, including mixed brands on the same site. We confirm your charger models in the review.

Will it change our routes or shifts?

No. Plans work around your departure times. Being ready for the next shift is a hard limit, not a target.

Do you take control of our chargers straight away?

No. A pilot depot starts in shadow mode: we compute every charging plan and show you what would have been sent, without controlling anything. Control starts only when you agree to it in writing.

Have you done this for other fleets?

Our case studies cover a London borough council’s depot pilot, the V2G Forum interoperability testbed and the IEA Task 53 research programme. Any saving we show you is either an estimate with its method stated or a measurement against a baseline you have agreed.

What about grid income and vehicle-to-grid?

Both are later upside, never the reason to start. Elexon qualification is in progress, with a decision targeted for January 2027, and vehicle-to-grid is not live for customers. Headroom pays its way on charging cost and capacity alone.

How is our data handled?

Your data is used only to run your review and your service, and it is kept separate from every other organisation’s data. AmpVerve’s ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls are continuously scored in Azure Policy, and our security evidence pack is available under NDA. Our security page and data processing agreement set out how we protect it.

Book your free headroom review

Tell us your organisation, your depot postcode, how many electric vehicles you run now and plan to add, and your charger brand. We will reply to arrange a secure way to send your data.

The review is free and carries no commitment. Savings figures are estimates with their method stated until they are measured against a baseline you have agreed; they are not a guarantee.
