AmpVerve Headroom · for electric van and light commercial fleets
We cut your electric fleet’s charging costs, with vehicles ready for work. AmpVerve Headroom starts with a free review that shows how many more vehicles your depot can charge before it needs a grid upgrade, and what planned charging would save.
A depot’s grid connection was sized for a building, not for a yard of vans plugging in at the end of a shift. A new connection can take years, and finance teams struggle to see a saving they can trust.

Vans are usually parked for far longer than they need to charge. Spreading charging across those hours can fit more vehicles on the same connection. The review tells you whether that holds for your depot, and where it does not.
It starts with data you already hold, and nothing is controlled until you have seen the plans and agreed in writing.
AmpVerve is paid only from a share of the savings and grid income it creates, measured against a baseline you agree in writing before we start. The review itself is free and carries no commitment. Grid income is later upside, offered only once a market route is open for your site; it is never the reason to start.
Four things a fleet buyer can check before signing anything.
Every plan works back from each vehicle’s next departure. Readiness is a hard limit in the optimiser, not a preference traded against price. Where we have no state of charge for a vehicle, the readiness board says so instead of guessing.
Readiness board: live Plans on your chargers: pilot programmeEach monthly statement is calculated from recorded inputs against a baseline you agreed before we started, and it is signed. Anyone holding the inputs can recompute it, and a public verification page checks the signature.
Pilot programme: first statements follow the first pilot depotsFrom the plan to the instruction, the charger’s response and the meter reading, each step is recorded on a tamper-evident audit trail, so a saving or a grid event can be shown to your auditors, your network operator or a market operator.
Audit trail: live Charger instructions: pilot programmeYour chargers connect over OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1, so you keep your hardware, can mix brands and can leave without replacing anything. A public API with documentation and signed webhooks lets your own systems read the same data. AmpVerve’s IEEE 2030.5 server and client are in the V2G Forum AC interoperability testbed with PNNL, Emporia and Pacific Power, with a demonstration in Detroit on 27 to 29 October 2026: testing, not certification.
OCPP and public API: liveAmpVerve is independent: not owned by a charger maker, an energy supplier or a network operator, so you keep your chargers, your vehicles and your energy supplier.
We label every part of the service with its real state, so you know what you are buying.
| Part of the service | State | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Free headroom review | Live | Run by our team on your data, within five working days of receiving it. |
| Depot capacity check | Live | A first estimate in your browser at app.ampverve.com/capacity-check. |
| Fleet readiness board | Live | In the AmpVerve Console, from your vehicle and charger data. |
| Public API and developer documentation | Live | Documentation, a sandbox and signed webhooks for your own systems. |
| Shadow mode on your chargers | Pilot programme | Our first pilot depots start here. Nothing is controlled. |
| Managed charging inside your site limit | Pilot programme | OCPP 1.6J first, then 2.0.1. It starts only after a shadow period and your written agreement. |
| Signed monthly savings statement | Pilot programme | Against the baseline you agreed, with a public verification page. |
| Alerts when a vehicle will not be ready | Pilot programme | Raised before departure, not after. |
| Grid income from flexibility markets | Pilot programme | Elexon qualification is in progress, with a decision targeted for January 2027. No grid income is promised until a market route is open for your site. |
| Vehicle-to-grid | Pilot programme | Standards and testbed work only. On the roadmap. |
Your charge point session export for the last three months, half-hourly site consumption (your energy supplier or meter operator can provide it), your current tariff and your vehicles’ usual departure times. If you do not have all of it, send what you have and we will tell you what the review can and cannot show.
No. AmpVerve works with chargers that support OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1, including mixed brands on the same site. We confirm your charger models in the review.
No. Plans work around your departure times. Being ready for the next shift is a hard limit, not a target.
No. A pilot depot starts in shadow mode: we compute every charging plan and show you what would have been sent, without controlling anything. Control starts only when you agree to it in writing.
Our case studies cover a London borough council’s depot pilot, the V2G Forum interoperability testbed and the IEA Task 53 research programme. Any saving we show you is either an estimate with its method stated or a measurement against a baseline you have agreed.
Both are later upside, never the reason to start. Elexon qualification is in progress, with a decision targeted for January 2027, and vehicle-to-grid is not live for customers. Headroom pays its way on charging cost and capacity alone.
Your data is used only to run your review and your service, and it is kept separate from every other organisation’s data. AmpVerve’s ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls are continuously scored in Azure Policy, and our security evidence pack is available under NDA. Our security page and data processing agreement set out how we protect it.
Tell us your organisation, your depot postcode, how many electric vehicles you run now and plan to add, and your charger brand. We will reply to arrange a secure way to send your data.
The review is free and carries no commitment. Savings figures are estimates with their method stated until they are measured against a baseline you have agreed; they are not a guarantee.
